[Interview] Meeting the Creator of “YumYumTofu,” a Brand Filled with the Warmth of Gyeongju

Hello! This is All That Printing.
Today, we had a lovely chat with Lee Sujin, the creator behind the adorable brand
“YumYumTofu,” a brand that instantly brings a smile to your face.
From her chaotic debut story to honest tips on making goods—
let’s dive right in! 👀

01. Meet the Artist and the Brand

Q. Please introduce yourself!
Hi! I’m an illustrator called “Tofu” (real name: Lee Sujin),
and I love bringing small moments of joy into everyday life through my drawings.

Q. Please introduce your brand!
“YumYumTofu” is a cute and cheerful stationery brand designed
to bring a smile, even during an ordinary day.
It’s also a local brand based in Gyeongju,
where I create and record souvenir items inspired by the city.

Q. How did you become an artist?
As a child, I loved stickers, colorful pens, and notebooks of all sizes.
I used to visit stationery shops every day and dreamed of owning one someday.

As an adult, I found myself working in a job unrelated to art
and realized I wasn’t happy.
One day, while looking at my sticker-filled diary,
I remembered that child who loved stationery so much.

That’s when I decided to create my own stationery.
With no solid plan, I persuaded my parents and
started uploading my work under a brand account.

02. Events, Exhibitions, and Stories

Q. When did you first want to join an event?
When I visited the Seoul Illustration Fair as a guest,
I thought, “Someday, I want to fill a booth with my own products.”
That scene is still vivid in my mind.

Q. Do you prepare events alone?
Most stationery events I prepare alone,
but for local events, I sometimes work with other local artists.
I adapt depending on the event.

Q. Are you more spontaneous (P) or planned (J)?
Definitely P-type!
I often jump into unexpected events and make goods I personally want.
Still, I’m trying to balance it with planning so the brand can last.

Q. How do you feel during events now?
My goal is simple:
“If I hear ‘It’s so cute!’ more than N times today, it’s a success!”
Sales matter, but hearing kind words directly from visitors
is what makes events special 🔥

Q. A memorable episode?
Someone bought my “Silla Smile” mirror smart tok,
came back the next day with a friend,
and even returned the following year to buy it again.
It was incredibly touching.

Q. Any rookie mistakes?
So many! Forgetting change, forgetting chargers,
leaving packed products at home…
But thanks to fellow artists, I always made it through.

Q. Best-selling items? (Top 3)
At local events:

  1. Acrylic/Wood magnets
  2. Keyrings
Many people compliment the print quality.

03. Behind the Scenes of Making Goods

Q. What’s the charm of acrylic goods?
They’re light, durable, and easy to enjoy in daily life.
Plus, there are so many ways to use acrylic.

Q. Any production mishaps?
Just yesterday, I ordered packaging with an old file version.
By the time I noticed, printing was already done—
so I had to reorder, holding back tears.

Q. Other goods you’ve made?
Wood magnets, stickers, masking tape, pens, notebooks,
mugs, tumblers, hoodies, tin cases, phone cases—
and recently, handmade fabric goods too.

Q. Most satisfying vs. slightly disappointing products?
All That Printing’s products always meet my expectations.
Especially the wood goods—the colors come out beautifully,
even better than I imagined.

04. Collaboration with All That Printing

Q. How did you first find us?
While planning wood magnets that represent Gyeongju,
I discovered All That Printing—and I’ve stayed ever since.

Q. Why do you keep choosing us?
Clear, high-quality printing, careful file checks,
and kind customer service.
I always feel safe working with them.

05. Future Plans & Final Message

Q. Your goal for 2026?
To study Korean traditions beyond Gyeongju
and express them in YumYumTofu’s own style.

Q. A message for aspiring creators?
I started simply because I wanted to do what I love,
and now it’s been almost seven years.
It wasn’t easy, but the joy of creating and sharing stories remains.
I’d love to hear your stories too. I’m cheering for you.
