Hello! This is All That Printing. From the Illustration Fairs held every weekend to glittering pop-up stores! Have you ever imagined your precious, hand-drawn characters turning into acrylic goods and being beautifully displayed at your booth? However, if you are a beginner artist preparing for your very first event, your heart might be racing with anxiety. You might be overwhelmed with questions like, "When is the deadline?", "Is the cutline drawn correctly?", or "How should I package them to look pretty?" So today, we have prepared the '0% Failure Rate! Master Guide to Bulk Ordering Acrylic Goods' for illustrators making their grand debut. We’ve gathered essential tips that even experienced creators sometimes miss, so stay tuned!
⏰ 1. The Nerve-Wracking Deadline War: How to Calculate a 'Safe Window'
As the event date approaches, time seems to fly twice as fast. If you think, "I'll just order a week before," you might end up sitting at a completely empty table on the day of the event!
- For bulk orders, add an extra +3 to 5 days! While small orders can be produced in just a few days, during the peak event season (especially right before major Illustration Fairs), print shops face an absolute rush of orders as artists nationwide place them all at once.
- The Golden Schedule Recommended by All That Printing To be safe, it is best to submit your final data and complete the payment at least 2 weeks (14 days) prior to the event date. This gives you peace of mind to handle any unexpected variables that may arise during printing, processing, packaging, and shipping.
💡 Booth Tip: While you can opt for 'direct delivery' from the print shop to the venue, we strongly recommend that first-time participants receive the items at home first. This allows you to inspect them for any defects and double-check the quantities with your own eyes!
📐 2. "No Cutting Into My Design!" Data Checklist
No matter how beautiful it looks on your screen, you won't get the desired quality unless you follow the print data rules. Check just these three things before placing your order!
- Did you convert from RGB to CMYK?: The vibrant neon colors you see on your iPad or monitor (RGB) may look slightly toned down when printed (CMYK). It is best to draw in CMYK mode from the start or carefully check the color tones after conversion.
- Check the White Layer (Underlay): You must accurately separate the areas where you want to keep the acrylic transparent from the areas where the image needs to appear solid and vivid (the white print area). If this gets confusing, feel free to knock on the door of All That Printing’s customer service team!
- Leave Plenty of Margin for the Cutline: To be safe, there should be a margin of at least 1.5mm to 2mm between the outline of your character and the cutline where the acrylic is sliced. If it's too close, you might face the heartbreak of having your character’s ears or hair tips cut off.
🎁 3. Packaging (OPP) and Accessory Tips to Elevate Your Goods
The final touch that makes visitors open their wallets at your booth is the 'display and packaging quality.'
- Leaving OPP packaging to the print shop is a lifesaver! You might think, "I'll buy OPP bags separately and pack them myself to save money!" But trying to put hundreds of keyrings into plastic bags and taping them one by one might leave you pulling an all-nighter right before the event. To stay in top condition, we highly recommend choosing the finished packaging option.
- Boost brand value with backing cards: Instead of just a keyring floating in a clear plastic bag, packaging it with a paper backing card featuring your brand logo or a cute background design instantly elevates the perceived value of your goods. Adding an Instagram QR code on the back will also be an amazing way to attract new followers after the event!
- Accessories: Go for variety or a unified theme! From standard silver, gold, and rose gold clasps to heart or star-shaped keyring hooks! Match accessories to the mood of your character—such as gold clasps for cinnamon-colored characters and silver clasps for cool blue characters.
🥰 Cheering on Artists Taking Their First Step
Seeing your own drawings come to life in the world, hanging on someone's bag or sitting on a desk, is an incredibly thrilling and moving experience. It might feel scary and complicated since it's your first time, but if you follow this guideline step by step, it won't be difficult at all.
If you get stuck while working on your data, or if you're debating which type of acrylic (glitter, hologram, etc.) would best suit your design, feel free to contact All That Printing anytime.
We will firmly support you with the finest quality so that your first booth shines as a complete sell-out! All That Printing wholeheartedly cheers for your wonderful debut. See you at the venue! You've got this! 🚀
